The Traveler Assistance Unit

The Traveler Assistance Unit, located at the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, is a highly specialized healthcare space that offers personalized health care services, (international) vaccines, recommendations, and health advice to people planning to travel to countries with an endemic risk of tropical diseases.

The Team

A team with recognized experience, training, and accredited background is available to the traveler to provide the assistance needed, following international criteria and identifying the needs and risks based on the country to be visited.

The unit is integrated into the Infectious Diseases Department of Hospital del Mar.

  3. Healthcare for patients with imported infectious diseases.

  4. Information and prevention regarding diseases preventable and non-preventable by vaccines.

  5. Preventive advice on:

    • Hygiene and diet.

    • Complete travel first-aid kit.

    • General advice (clothing, footwear, altitude, jet-lag, protection against mosquito and other insect bites, sun protection, measures to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, etc.).

    • Course of action in case of suspected illness.

This service is not included in the basic health benefits catalog, and therefore, services will be paid for with the following rates:

  • Traveler Visit: €40.55

  • Traveler Visit and Vaccine: €57.05

  • Urgent Traveler Visit and Vaccine: €132.70

  • Traveler Vaccine: €11.10

  • Traveler Visit and Yellow Fever Vaccine: €63.30

  • Traveler Visit and Vaccines including Yellow Fever: €76.25

  • Traveler Yellow Fever Vaccine: €22.85

  • Traveler Visit and COVID PCR: €53.95

  • PCR: €119.85

  • Antigen Test: €17.45

Visits for people presenting with a suspicion or diagnosis of an imported disease are not subject to payment, as there is public coverage for the care of these pathologies.
